These coins depicting a gaucho (traditional cattle herder extraordinaire) and his creole horse were minted between 1962 and 1968. This image is a reproduction of a statue called "El Resero", found in Buenos Aires. When it was unveiled in 1932, people thought the sculptor, a M. Sarguinet, had made a horrible mistake in placing both right legs of the horse forward- as usually, horses' legs go otherwise. But this was true and accurate- creole horses, who were the gauchos' best friends, spending all their time together in the pampa (fields), had developed this special gait over time to allow for a more resting ride, allowing the gaucho to even sleep while riding! Another interesting fact about coins and history in general! ;-)
Diameter: 24 mm.
On a good quality ALLOY (mixed metals) chain (lead, nickel and cadmium free), neutral and simple bail (hanger), lobster claw clasp and a 3 inch extension for adjustment.
For $10 extra, you can have it on a 925 Sterling Silver chain, 20 inches long but no extension.
