The coins show some very minor scratches due to handling.
Zanzibar is an insular autonomous region of Tanzania. It is composed of the Zanzibar Archipelago in the Indian Ocean, 25â50 kilometres off the coast of the mainland, and consists of many small islands and two large ones: Unguja and Pemba Island.
Obverse:
Abeid Amani Karume Portrait facing slightly to left.
Lettering:
SHEIKH ABEID AMANI KARUME·RAIS WA KWANZA WA ZANZIBAR -2014-
Translation: THE FIRST PRESIDENT OF ZANZIBAR
Reverse:
Buffalo facing slightly left
The African buffalo or Cape buffalo (Binomial Name: Syncerus caffer)
Lettering:
SHILINGI MIA TANO - 500
Translation: Five Hundred Shillings.
These coins are made of steel (inside) and are plated with nickel.
27.5 mm in diameter.
On a good quality brass-based alloy (mixed metals) chain, lead, nickel and cadmium free, with a sturdy lobster claw clasp and a 3 inch extension for adjustment.
You can also select a 20 inch long 925 Sterling Silver chain.
